In the late 70’s /early 80’s the owner purchased three units in a 1928 apartment building in the south Capital Hill neighborhood that was converted to a condominium . Believing that the Pike/Pine corridor would one day be transformed from a drug/prostitute location to a vibrant urban corridor; the owner decided to remodel the three units into two units. Also believing that roof gardens would one day be a welcomed amenity to condominium living, the owner blasted out the roof of one of the units to make a 650 sf roof garden that overlooks the entire city. The owner still occupies the penthouse unit and is a strong advocate for roof gardens, living within walking distance to work, and rehabbing older buildings to become more energy efficient.
