WASHINGTON PARK
This turn of the century residence features a new Kitchen and Garden room. The Owner’s, who love to entertain with their two children, wanted a kitchen that was highly functional during both small and large dinner parties. The existing kitchen (designed in the late sixties) was totally unworkable. The Owner’s desired a new kitchen with large window walls that would bring both light and the exterior garden elements “inside”. Another driving concept for the kitchen is that it would not have the “usual” custom built in cabinet look. Thus the cabinets and appliances would be integrated “seamlessly” to reflect European kitchens design.
The Garden room which features tall ceilings, elaborate trim work, and large windows with views toward Lake Washington is a delight for the family which spends many wonderful hours enjoying each other’s company. The Garden room (which is directly related to the interior dining room) was situated in the rear yard so that it did not reduce the functionality of this “urban” yard for gardening and outdoor dining.
