On a very dense residential street in the Leschi area, this very urban couple wanted to expand their home to include a new master bath and garage area as well as update many of the existing rooms. Though the neighbors were initially concerned with any additions that would architecturally alter the appearance of this shingle styled home, Castanes Architects’ design was successful in satisfying the neighbors and obtaining “land use variances” from the City. The new addition is integrated into the tight residential fabric while maintaining the overall shingle style that completely blends with the old. In particular, the Owners now have a master bathroom that embraces the views towards Lake Washington.
